By clicking on the titles listed on this site, the teacher will find a study guide that contains reproducible activity pages for student use. Sample items from the study guides include: vocabulary words, writing assignments and active reading ideas. - NCTE Orbis Pictus Nonfiction Award
This site lists the winners of the NCTE Orbis Pictus Nonfiction Awards from 1990-Present. These books are appropriate for 6-8 classrooms as a way to build background knowledge and/or supplement district materials in the areas of science, social studies, art, etc. The books “appeal to a wide range of ages and share interesting and timely subject matter. They also encourage thinking and model exemplary expository writing and research skills.”
