Action Plan for Identification
Specific Objectives
The following objectives for identification are part of our 1996 Strategic Plan, which still drives our program today:
Plan 1 - Student Search Grade 2
To search for all students who would benefit from opportunities provided through Gifted Education Services.
Plan 2 - Student Search Grades 3-5
To search for all students who would benefit from opportunities provided through Gifted Education Services.
Plan 3 - Student Search Grades 6-9
To search for all students who would benefit from opportunities provided through Gifted Education Services.
Plan 4 - Student Search Grades 10-12
To search for all students who would benefit from opportunities provided through Gifted Education Services.
Plan 5 - Gifted Resource Staff
To collect/review materials for and to coordinate the completion of the student packets, which will facilitate the review committee's evaluation of each student.
Plan 6 - Committee Review - Members
To form a districtwide review committee with representatives from each school to evaluate the student search candidates for identification in the gifted and talented program.
Plan 7 - Committee Review - Review Process
To evaluate the needs of students based on a broad definition of outstanding talent and potential talent.
Plan 8 - Appeals Process - Student Advocate
To provide for review of a student who demonstrates outstanding talent or potential, but who was not recommended for services provided by the gifted and talented program during the current year.
Plan 9 - Appeals Process - Committee
To review academic information for students who appeal the review committee's decision and to determine identification of that student.
