First
graders are curious, competitive, energetic, full of surprises,
and thrilled to be in school.
Showing interest and enthusiasm for anything new, most first graders
boldly take on risk and challenge. They welcome opportunities to
talk about themselves and show what they can do, and they are greatly
motivated by praise. In short, they are very proud. During this
year of exploration, first graders need to feel secure and loved
in a safe and accepting environment.
