Services

Edina Schools Health Services serves:

• All Edina Public Schools
• Non-Public Schools in the Edina area
• Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)

At each school the Licensed School Nurses (LSN) assisted by Health Service Associates (HSA) provide the following services to support Edina students:

• Assess individual student health and developmental status
• Promote and maintaining the health and well-being of all students
• Develop health plans for students with health conditions
• Coordinate prevention and control of communicable disease
• Develope a system of first aid and emergency care
• Participate in health education
• Recommend new and updated health policies

Specific responsibilities include:

Licensed School Nurse

• Provides nursing treatments
• Medication delegation, administration & supervision
• Assessses health status and plans for students
• Provides health education
• Provides health consultation to students and staff
• Provides referrals to community resources

Health Service Associate

• Provides first aid to students and staff
• Administers medication (under the direction of the LSN)
• Assists with vision screening (sophomores)
• Processes immunization records
• Maintains Health Records
