FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Edina Public Schools to Preview Health Curriculum Edina, Minn., Dec. 11, 2008 – The Edina Health Curriculum & Family Life Program for grades four and five will be presented for preview from 11:30 a.m – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at the Edina Community Center in room 350. The presentation will include curriculum goals, books, films and tips for parents on addressing body changes, growth and development. The Edina School District believes that the family is the primary sexuality educator. Thus, a primary goal of the health curriculum, especially the family life/human growth strand, is to open channels of communication between parents and children. To increase this communication, the curriculum department shows the curriculum and materials each fall to the grades four and five parent community for preview. We invite all parents to this curriculum preview hosted by the Edina teaching & learning department and health services. If you wish to preview materials but cannot attend the meeting, please contact the principal in your child’s school to learn when the information will be available for preview at that school. For more information about the presentation, contact Jenni Norlin-Weaver, director of teaching and learning, at 952-848-4951 or jenweaver@edina.k12.mn.us. Visit the Teaching and Learning page for more information about the Edina curriculum. ### |
