FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Edina School Board Renews Superintendent’s Contract Edina, Minn., Oct. 30, 2008 – The Edina School Board unanimously approved a new three-year contract for Superintendent Ric Dressen, Ed.D. The new contract is effective July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2012. The agreement includes a 2.5 percent annual salary increase each year. "Superintendent Dressen is doing a great job," said Edina School Board chair Randy Meyer. "Edina Public Schools has always 'defined excellence,' but Ric is taking us to the next level. He is an outstanding leader. We are excited to continue to work with him.” The Board’s continued endorsement of Dressen comes at a time of great celebration in the District. According to a recent survey, 95 percent of Edina residents rank Edina Public Schools as excellent or good. In addition, a recent audit completed by consulting company Malloy, Montague, Karnowski, Radosevich, & Co., P.A., revealed that the District’s fiscal management is outstanding. With the extra vote of confidence from the Board, Dressen will continue shaping the District’s strategic plan, putting immediate priority on personalized learning, implementing alternative compensation (Alt Comp) for teachers, aligning the District from early childhood to adulthood and expanding community partnerships. ###  |
