Legislation Watch
The district will focus attention on the following issues at the Legislature, in cooperation with Senator Geoff Michel, and Representatives Ron Erhardt and Neil Peterson:
- Modernize the education funding system, and include recognition of cost differences between metro and greater Minnesota districts
- Fully fund Special Education
- Invest in early childhood education
- Attract and retain high-quality teachers
- Maintain local control and reduce mandates
Issues to watch include: Property tax reform, all-day kindergarten, high school reform, Q comp, statewide health insurance, extended school year and competing funding demands.
